FRAMA Sheet Cabinet & Other Favourites for My Home

If you have been reading vosgesparis for some time, you might know that I have always loved a good amount of brutalism. Over the years, I have written about many interiors where zinc, metal and aluminium take centre stage, featured homes in concrete and used several industrial pieces of furniture in my own home. My love for metal in interiors has never really gone away. I still have a beautiful industrial cabinet, and the metal table I designed and had made is still in my kitchen today.

Lately, I have been thinking a lot again about steel and aluminium in interiors. Not so much in the industrial way, but in more refined finishes such as matt or brushed aluminium. I like the contrast they could bring to a room, especially in my kitchen next to the dark wood and black stone. I think using aluminium here could add a little tension and architectural sharpness without making it feel to industrial. It is also why I keep looking at different ways to bring this material into my kitchen, perhaps through a stainless steel island or an aluminium table.

I always love to visualize things before making a decision. Previously, I added the round garden table in the kitchen and rotated the metal table that stood in the middle of my kitchen ninety degrees and placed it as a ‘peninsula’ parallel to my countertop. That way, I can feel if this is something I will enjoy for a longer time. I think both are great, and because the table isn’t island height, the spot by the wall at the table has already become my favorite place to sit and work. So now the question is: do I keep the table and add some aluminum elsewhere in the kitchen in the form of a small round table, or do I replace the table with a kitchen island? I’ll have to think about it a bit longer. In the meantime, here are a few options I spotted at 3 Days of Design to bring a touch of aluminum into your home.

FRAMA Sheet Cabinet

The FRAMA Sheet Cabinet is one of those pieces that caught my attention during 3 Days of Design. Made from stainless steel, it gives a simple wall mounted cabinet a more architectural look, using clean lines and simple proportions.I like that balance between something very straightforward and something that is not immediately easy to classify.

Another piece I keep coming back to is the Tasca Table. Its light, hand finished construction is designed to blur the lines between indoors and outdoors, home and away, and that is just what I love about it. I like the smaller size, which feels a bit like a café table, but I am wondering if a larger round version might work better in my own space. The simplicity of the design is what keeps drawing me back to it: it could work outdoors, but it would feel just as natural inside. I also discovered a small aluminium incense holder and loved its simple shape.
