After spending four days in Copenhagen last month I returned home, full of inspiration, and a camera filled with pictures. On the blog I started with a few blogs about some expositions that I loved visiting. I tried to post an update every day as I know some of you will only read the blog, while others prefer instagram. Hot days though interrupted my writing and I felt most of us were enjoying outdoors. I still love to write a few blogs of what really stood out for me, afterall vosgesparis is my personal journey and has always been my diary of travels and design. I am really grateful for your support and for following me along over the years!
Looking back at another 3 Days of design festival and my love for Copenhagen. Also a bit overwhelmed and with tired feet, as each year the festival becomes bigger without giving you more time or days to explore the many exhibitions around town. The festival, originally by almost only Scandinavian designers and companies, has grown into a festival where more companies of Spain, Italy and other countries, I spotted many more American brands too! Love to present themselves, while many Scandinavian brands seemed to have skipped Milan.
I love the vibe of Milan, the huge palazzi, the noise and the colours, while in copenhagen I enjoy the wide and clean! streets, and the different light. Unlike Milan, it is a city-only festival. With the current changes and rethinking of the future of many fairs, I hear people referring to 3 days of design as the ‘Milan of the North’ in the making. And I must admit I kinda miss the smaller edition.

Design / Dialogue The future of design by Ark Journal
This year I made it to visit some further away exhibitions like the one iat Pakhus 11. Curated by the team behind Ark Journal in collaboration with stylist Pernille Vest. The press release sounded promising: “Design / Dialogue by Ark Journal is more than an exhibition: it is an exclusive showcase for the future of design, creative collaborations and craftsmanship. It is a story woven through the stunning spaces, visionary design and artistic expressions. It is a hub for collaborations, for Danish and international brands, designers and artists. The focus of this exhibition is to promote high-quality design and to show new products in an inspiring and relevant way.”
The huge Pakhus was quite an impressive building and I was curious to discover Ark Journal’s new perspectives in design, spanning the disciplines of craft, craft, object design, interior design, and decorative arts. The exhibition showed both established names and new talents. I especially loved to see a brand like Mdf Italia in this different setting, other exhibitioners: Ark Kollekt, Basalto Collective, BassamFellows, Bieke Casteleyn, Brandt Copenhagen, Cc-tapis, Designs of the Time, E15, Font Design Group, Imcollective, Kalmar Werkstätten, Maison Rhizomes, Mdf Italia, Saas Instruments, Studio Vraco, Toni Copenhagen, Un’common, Venicem, Wa/ter and Atelier matic.

History of 3daysofdesign
Let’s jump back in time for those who is not familiar with the festival yet. I have been visiting the festival since it began as a small design event held in an old warehouse in Nordhavn. We then formed a Blogger team called ‘Design Bloggers United’, and traveled around Europe for some years, working with fairs and collaborating with brands.
In 2013 we visited the Danish brands who launched the 3 days event as a joint initiative: Montana, Erik Jørgensen (now owned by Fredericia Furniture), Anker & Co, and Kvadrat. We also decorated a Bloggerzone together at the first Design trade fair at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, which later became North Modern fair, and then closed down. Today, the 3daysofdesign festival extends to the entire city of Copenhagen and is considered the most significant annual design festival in Scandinavia and Northern Europe. (Montana visit 2013)
