Renovation Reveal: A Transitional Family Home

Take a look a this lovely full home renovation in The Woodlands, TX by our Lead Designer, Jessica Salinas.

Our goal for this family home’s renovation was to modernized the interior with fresh, sleek surfaces that would be durable and gorgeous for many years to come. The hard surfaces such as tiles and countertops were sourced from Arizona Tile, and paired with refreshing coats of paint, matte black finishes, and functional, high-performance appliances.

The homeowners are a young family with kiddos under the age of 5, thus their kitchen needed to be durable with easy-clean, resistant surfaces that will hold up to the high traffic and use this space would be receiving.

See the transformation below:

Next, the living room was updated with a fresh natural color along the built-in shelving and upper niches. The addition of a wooden beam mantel to the stone fireplace wall completed the space. These changes created a more cohesive look to the room. Panting the shelving a sleek taupe made the room appear brighter and bigger, while the addition of the wooden beam elevated the space with a classic, transitional-rustic feel.

The powder bath is a simple, transitional beauty! The small space was refreshed with additions of a curved, decorative mirror, new vanity lighting, and repainting the existing vanity in a cool green. A new countertop, sink and faucet competed the look!

The master bathroom underwent a stunning transformation! The original design was very dated and heavy with dark wood cabinetry. Lead designer, Jessica refreshed the space by adding in a freestanding tub along the main curved wall to center the room and repainting the brown vanities in a bold blue! These additions opened up the space and create a more fresh, transitional feel to the room.

A unique, walk-in shower was redesigned to go behind the bathtub wall. It has connecting entrances from on each side of the shower, offer convenient access from both ‘his and her’ vanities. Plus, its a gorgeous feature to the space.

Lastly, the mudroom was custom designed and added-on to the original floorplan of the home. It was built-in along the back hallway of the home; which connects the kitchen, secondary staircase, and the utility room together. This functional little space is a perfect ‘drop zone’ for the kiddos backpacks, shoes, and essentials for getting in and out the door on time and efficiently. It was a ‘must’ addition to this family home!
