Resonance by Studio Lugo | Sculptural pieces presented at Alcova 2026

Studio Lugo is an interdisciplinary design studio based in Istanbul. Founded by designer Doruk Kubilay, the studio works across collectible design, furniture and interiors, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary approaches.

I first discovered Doruk’s work at the previous Alcova edition: Alcova Continues at Villa Bagatti Valsecchi And I was happy to see them back at Alcova again in the latest 2026 edition at the former Baggio Military Hospital.

Resonance

For Alcova 2026, Studio Lugo presented Resonance, a collection of limited-edition pieces that explores a more sculptural and experimental approach. With this series, the studio moves from polished precision toward a more experimental sculptural language, while remaining deeply connected to Istanbul’s historic production culture and its enduring relationship to craft.

Visible traces of handwork, layered metal surfaces and intentional imperfections play an important role in the collection, reflecting the studio’s focus on materiality and process. Rather than concealing joints, welds and surface reactions, Resonance keeps them visible, allowing the making of each piece to remain part of its final expression. The works are built through layered metal structures and process-led interventions, where irregularities and material behavior are embraced as part of the design. Each object is shaped by heat, material response and hand-guided decisions, carrying traces of time and making.

Studio Lugo collaborated with Telamor to dress the space, creating a quiet, layered backdrop for their presentation at Alcova 2026. The textiles functioned as architectural surfaces that framed the collection.

Telamor is a Turkish textile house with over 50 years of experience in in-house design and production. Known for its deep material knowledge and collaborative approach, the brand works closely with designers to create textiles that function as architectural layers rather than surface statements. Its practice is rooted in craftsmanship, proportion and texture.
