Masterplan 3.0: The Art of a Slow Makeover

That feeling of freshening things up after the Christmas season, combined with a new year and new ideas, and finally tackling a few chores that always seem to be pending. I think everyone knows that feeling! However, due to some tendonitis in my shoulder, I have to slow down a bit, which is also why I’ve written fewer articles these past few weeks.

Hopefully, everything will improve soon, because I’m finally ready to move on, especially in one of the bedrooms. I bought a lovely, large, heavy linen bedspread, which perfectly matches the dark wooden floor and the ambiance I showed you recently. Have a look here:  New Favourite cabinet on my wall Next up is painting the walls in the Paris paint colour. And finally, I’ll start looking for a new bed and mattress. Something I’m really looking forward to. Not sure yet what style I am looking for, as as usual I have to many ideas.

Adding Luxury Through Fabrics and Materials

I like to give the room a more luxurious look with fabrics. However, I haven’t yet decided whether to paint the wainscoting or look for a bed with a fixed upholstered headboard. And what to do with the last concrete wall in the bedroom? It makes a clear statement that recalls an earlier, more industrial-looking bedroom from that time. My home has seen many changes since I occasionally show it here to you. And the one thing that keep coming back is my lack of being able taking quick decisions.

My house has undergone many changes since I’ve been showing it to you here. And one thing that keeps recurring is my inability to make quick decisions. As a result, I often get stuck in smaller details for a long time. I already indicated this in this article: Minimal IKEA Hack with KOAK design | Pax cabinet upgrade. Here I describe how focusing on small details when working on a new project or buying a larger piece of furniture, such as buying a new bedspread, help me set the tone and coming in the right mood for the next step in my own master plan!

Learning from Previous Masterplans

The idea on how to shape your house into the home you always dreamed of, which I called my masterplan and later my Masterplan 2.0 years ago, was really loved by so many readers over the years and helped me growing into changes and new interior decisions. It wasn’t about quickly buying stuff and settling down but on creating along the way. And it is still very much alive
Masterplan 2.0 was bringing me in a different direction, away from the former homes I created in black and white and more mature and rich in material use. A beautiful dark kitchen, different flooring throughout the home, which I brought back from my stand design at imm Cologne.

Masterplan 3.0: The Art of a Slow Makeover

And now, I think I found a great new name for this next project: Masterplan 3.0: The Art of a Slow Makeover.
I’m approaching this project in the same way I did with my previous Masterplans: step by step, with attention to every detail, and without rushing into decisions. It’s about shaping my home room by room, letting it evolve naturally, and enjoying the process along the way. I hope you’ll enjoy following this journey as much as I enjoy creating it, and maybe even find some inspiration for your own home along the way.

This week I will be in Paris and it brought me back to the major Inspiration I first found for my bedroom back in 2011.
I made a recap of previous bedroom looks on My Instagram today, realizing I was happy with every look at that particular time….but I really love how it looks today so far.
