The Quiet Beauty of SHŌJI by Maami Home

Inspired by the calm of traditional Japanese interiors, SHŌJI by Maami Home is more than just a decorative light. With a softly glowing LED behind a delicate Japanese rice paper screen, the piece feels almost like a presence, subtle, serene, and constantly changing depending on how you move around it.

What I especially love is the combination of materials. The screen is framed in a minimal structure, while the base is made of polished Kunis Brescia marble, which is not only chosen for its durability but certainly also for its natural beauty. Each piece of marble is unique, showing veins and colour variations that make every lamp different from the next.

As with the ceramic lamps by Bennet Schlesinger I showed here, it’s exactly these imperfections that make the piece interesting. They add character and a certain quiet luxury, bringing nature into our homes in a soft and understated way.
