Tresse collection by Haydn von Werp | A Dialogue Between Architecture and Craft
During my visit at Edit Napoli I had the pleasure to get introduced to different new designers and their work. The location of La Santissima certainly added an extra dimension, her rough and unpolished character suited the designs of American designer Haydn von Werp perfectly. The small room, decorated with a huge mirror, showing his Tresse collection really caught my eye and made me curious to learn more. Haydn’s work has been previously presented through private viewings and he made his public debut this year at Edit Napoli, Forthcoming exhibitions are scheduled across Europe.
Tresse
Drawing inspiration from Futurism’s sculptural purity and Brutalism’s raw tactility, Haydn reinterprets these influences through a contemporary lens where natural imperfection and refined geometry coexist in harmony. Making Tresse a collection that redefines the boundaries between beauty and structure.
In Tresse, braided metal forms intertwine with natural stone, creating compositions that feel both structural and aesthetic. Cut-outs in the stone integrate seamlessly with the woven metal, producing an interplay between solidity and lightness. The result is a collection that reimagines the garden as a space of quiet strength—an unexplored terrain in high-end design, where craftsmanship meets the outdoors with precision. Produced entirely in Italy by selected artisans, each piece is handcrafted and made to order.
Tresse Side table
Alongside the dining table, Haydn showcased the Tresse Side Table, designed in parallel for both outdoor and indoor settings. This smaller piece captures the same spirit of movement in a more intimate form: braided metal arcs in dark patina, developed with Mingardo official.
