The last time in 2023, my visit to Dry Studios was one of the highlights of my short trip to Stockholm, where I attended the Stockholm Furniture Fair. I often follow designers or shops online for a long time, and it was great to actually visit the store. You can see some images I made in this article: Dry Studios in Stockholm
I don’t think the cabinet in the photo above was there back then, I love the image and kept it in my ‘to sort out’ folder for a while, filled with designs and designers I still want to explore and write about. Only recently did I discover that ‘The Collector’s Cabinet,’ as it’s called, is from Dry Studios. The cabinet is an understated nod to vintage cabinets, but with more refined and contemporary dimensions and made of solid oak. The proportions and the fact that you can see through it give it a sleek and light appearance.
I really love these kind of cabinets, where you can perfectly display your favourite books and objects. When I look at my own home, I have one or two spots in every room where I create small still lifes with books and objects. I often quickly find it too cluttered, and a few things disappear back into the cupboard. This enormous cabinet could be a real, as we call it in the Netherlands, cabinet of curiosities, filled with all the objects, so that nothing has to disappear into the cupboard and is still organized in one place.
