Looking for information about Sóller and Mallorca, I visited the account of Durietz design as the often show beautiful images of Mallorca. I have been following them since an earlier renovation of theirs I covered on the blog: Camp Roig townhouse by Durietz Design and so came across Can Batlet, their renovation in Sóler. A project nearly 4 years in the making and done with particular care as a private residence for a Danish family who due to Spanish bureaucracy ended up with two houses in Sóller equally spectacular, and couldn’t decide which to keep.
Located on one of Sóller’s most prestigious streets, Can Batlet is a 750 sqm private home that has been carefully renovated and redesigned by Durietz Design. What makes this townhouse stand out is not just its scale, but the incredible level of detail and respect for the original architecture. Meticulous work has been put in to redesigning spaces while keeping the essence of the house and restoring every original detail to perfection. One of the biggest challenges was finding a harmonizing palette to tie together all the multicolored tiles and stucco ceilings, next to integrating all modern technology into the house without a trace.

Each ceiling in the house features different stucco designs, and the floors showcase a wide variety of original and restored hydraulic tiles — even extending up the walls in the main living room. Original carpentry has been restored with rare wood inlays no longer available today, adding to the uniqueness of the space. With five individually designed bed and bath suites, Can Batlet offers both spaciousness and privacy. The two kitchens are fully equipped with high-end appliances, blending seamlessly into the historical structure. Every space has been thoughtfully designed to feel lived-in, comfortable, and layered but never overdone.
