The last time I was in Paris I stayed in a super nice hotel near Gare du Nord, maybe not the most idyllic neighbourhood but it is always handy to sleep close to the station where the Eurostar departs from and to be able to store your suitcase for a last day in the city. According to a friend the hotel rooms felt like a small apartment and nothing could be further from the truth. I was glad to book a room here and both our rooms were super nice designed and had the perfect attention for detail. Although the small balcony could be great on a summer day, the bathroom design was my favourite detail in the room.
The green tiles on the wall, the wooden sink cabinet and especially the metal wall with reeded glass that separated the bathroom from the room, I really loved it! I have been a fan of metal doors for a long time before they became almost mainstream and trendy here in the Netherlands. If you have followed me for a while you know that I really used to have a preference for industrial design. Which I often showed on my blog about ten years ago. Although my taste may have softened a bit and I use more shades than just white and grey I am still in love with the French style metal doors. Mostly with a glass partition, but lately I have a small preference for reeded glass, which adds an elegant touch to metal doors.
New reeded glass brick ideas for your home
In an earlier post I gave you some ideas on how to use reeded glass in your kitchen as pictured above. You can read the full post here.Visiting this Paris hotel made me think of different ways to use reeded glass, and in the Saint-Séverin apartment by Studio Vlach I noticed a new way, something I had not seen before. Now you might remember the thick square glass bricks from the seventies, I personally do not like these but I see them used again lately.
At the apartment I noticed a wall composed of small ribbed glass bricks, different from any glass block walls I (personally) have seen before. A great way to give an industrial look to a space in a more elegant way than the bulky glass bricks we know. What do you think of making a partition wall with these small glass bricks.
