Three favourite lamps by J.Adams & Co | kitchen update

If you followed my home updates over the last few years you might have seen me using different lamps in my kitchen. It is only since my last kitchen update that I really took the time to search for not only functional lighting but also, and in my case maybe even more,  lighting that is highly attractive to the eye.

In my search for the right lighting, I take the time to look at every option in terms of material, details and finish. As a frequent visitor to trade fairs and with a more than average interest in everything that has to do with interior design, I don’t make it easy for myself. The choice is enormous!

J.Adams & Co Elegant luminaires handmade in Britain

I strongly believe that it is often mainly a matter of feeling, a kind of love at first sight when it comes to finding the right lighting. Something that immediately affects you and is just what you were waiting for! For me this was about a year ago when I first came across the lighting from J.Adams & Co during the Amsterdam Glue festival.

I immediately knew that this was the brand I had been waiting for and could help me take another step forward in perfecting my lighting plan. Especially in the kitchen where I often got annoyed by the wiring hanging from the ceiling, which screamed for a ceiling spotlight.

J.Adams & Co is a British lighting manufacturer known for creating elegant, high-quality lamps. Each piece is handmade in their Birmingham factory, where they bring over 50 years of metalworking and manufacturing expertise to every design. Combining traditional craftsmanship with a modern touch, J.Adams & Co produces refined, contemporary lighting that not only looks beautiful but is also built to last. If you’re looking for lamps that offer a blend of timeless style and exceptional durability, this brand is a great choice.

Flume

It was the Flume wall light that made my heart beat faster when I was browsing through the catalog. And it definitely belongs in my top 3 of the collection. The Flume wall light spreads a delicate warm glow through the reeded glass, while also providing a bright downward illumination. Flume can also be used in the bathroom. It is kind of my dream scenario to hang a beautiful mirror with a Flume at each side when updating my 80ties bathroom.

In addition to the wall light, there are various pendant options, either as a single pendant or a statement grouping. Flume is available in an antique brass, satin brass, bronze and satin nickel finish, with a choice of either clear or frosted glass. Have a look at the complete Flume collection here

Tor Wall light

Unfortunately, I don’t have any electrical points at eye level in my walls, but otherwise I would have definitely considered my second favorite from the collection: the Tor wall lamp. With Tor, the brand took a new path by exploring the decorative possibilities of metal casting.

J.Adams & Co: “This centuries-old process starts by creating a mold into which molten bronze is poured, taking shape as it cools. The cast pieces are then removed, refined and finished to exacting standards.” Tor is available in both Bronze and Antique Brass, and suitable for both indoors and outdoors.

Casting both an upward and downwards illumination, Tor Up/Down beautifully washes the wall with light, revealing the subtle textures and patterns of the wall. The Down wall  version is perfect for lighting pathways, steps and corridors. F more information here

Material choices

It is no surprise that I ultimately chose J. Adams & Co for my kitchen. As I wrote, I primarily go for the look and feel of the material when searching new items for my home. Brass is a long-time favorite material of mine. It is somewhat industrial and has a certain elegance that I find very appealing, and it has many good qualities.

Brass has the capacity to be recycled an infinite number of times, which has significant environmental and economic advantages. Any offcuts or scrap materials produced during the manufacturing process are also repurposed and reused. In addition to brass, J. Adams & Co uses glass and natural stone for its collections, both materials can be recycled. Every light is also made to order, reducing the chance of waste parts or dead stock.

Spot Ceiling lights in my kitchen

Recently I have been busy with new ideas for my kitchen, searching for new window covering ideas and I will be using the colours from the vosgesparis x we are wowmakers collaboration. I am all in my Masterplan 2.0 mode and looking forward to see if I can create a different vibe!  The ceiling has been repainted and together with J. Adams & Co I selected the ‘Single Spot Ceiling Lights’ in an Antique brass finish for the kitchen. I think the details are so beautiful and I am happy to see how they fit my kitchen. In the image below you can see the details of the spot at its best.

The Single spots we selected are part of the larger Spot series and available in four different finishes: Bronze, Antique brass, Satin brass and Satin Nickel. With the base of Ø95mm it perfectly covers the large and visible eighties ceiling connection. More options are available, such as two – and a three spot ceiling light.

As you can see above Spot come in many different versions, giving a lighting solution for every space. The Spot Pendant System is a configurable double brass rail with twin spot heads at preset intervals, casting beautiful warm light wherever you need it.

Available either in standard lengths of either 1400mm (6 spots) or 2000mm, (8 spots), the system can also be configured to virtually any length with any number of spots, and can be suspended either from drop rods or suspension wire. Perfect also for the kitchen as shown below

In the Spot Desk version we see the marble or alabaster base options. Spot Desk Light features a height adjustable mechanism.  Check out the J.Adams website for more lamps from the Spot Collection and all other collections and work of Design Director, Will Earl: Visit J.Adams & Co.

Spot Pro

“The Spot Pro series is a natural extension of the current Spot range. This Spot is excellent to accentuate artwork, objets and architectural details. The rotatable head can be moved and adjusted, effortlessly shining light exactly where it is needed. I love the eye-catching design of the Spot Pro and how makes it a beautiful stand-alone addition to our homes.
