Enter the Salon with Karimoku Case & Origin Made

One of the exhibitions I was really looking forward too was Enter the Salon in the traditional Copenhagen town house, called The Conary. Furnished with items from Karimoku Case, the beautiful  Origin Made and other brands I heard of before or learned about while wandering through the building, it was one of my highlights of 3 days of design.  A special thanks also to Cherie for showing me around.

From the dining room and hallway on the ground floor to the living room, office, bedroom and atrium, the rooms have been divided according to use and colour, with items in either natural Japanese Oak, the darker and more atmospheric Matte Black stain or the new Japanese Zelkova wood, recently added to the Karimoku portfolio.

A mix of brands

Karimoku was not the only brand showing their latest pieces, all was beautifully mixed with items from Origin Made, August Sandgren, Ambientec, Carpe Diem Beds, Ladies & Gentlemen,  Silkeborg Ulrich. Brands with outstanding craftsmanship and atmospheric qualities of timeless design. In this post I will give you a small impression with images by Jonas Bjerre-Poulsen and myself of the brands that caught my eye. Many of the pieces on view have only recently been presented for the first time at Salone del Mobile.

Origin Made

If I remember well, the first came across Origin Made during Milan Design week two years ago during Milan Design Week 2022. Where the Japanese design brand Ariake presented Cipango, set in a private residential apartment at Porta Venezia. Cipango was the name Marco Polo gave to Japan when he first learned of the existence of the country in the 13th century. The exhibition marked Ariakes debut at Milan design week and introduced their 2022 collection, made in Italy for the European market. Including furniture by Gabriel Tan of Origin Made.

Karimoku Case

Launched in May 2019 at 3 days of design in Copenhagen, I was happy to join them at the Kinfolk gallery where they launched the brand . You can still find the story on the blog here:  Karimoku Case Study at Kinfolk

Karimoku Case is a contemporary lifestyle brand developed by Japan’s largest wooden furniture manufacturer, Karimoku Furniture, in collaboration with architecture and design studios Norm Architects and Keiji Ashizawa Design. Born out of admiration and love for serene beauty, material richness and timeless appeal, the collection is brought to life by internationally renowned architects through individual cases, and the story of each collection is told through its native setting.
